A honeymoon itinerary is not our Signature Safari with candles added. It starts from a different question.
Not "how do we see the most of Rwanda" but "how do we give this couple time together, real privacy, and a sense of occasion at the right moments" — and the itinerary, lodge selection and pacing all follow from that.

Day by day
Day 1 — Arrive Kigali, transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Private transfer of 2.5 to 3 hours, with the evening free and a welcome dinner arranged privately rather than in a shared dining room where the lodge allows.
Day 2 — Gorilla trekking
The trek itself, shared with up to six other trekkers per Rwanda Development Board rules — the one part of a Rwanda honeymoon that cannot be made fully private, and one we're clear about during planning. The evening is where privacy is built back in: a private terrace dinner, a couple's treatment, or simply an early, quiet evening.
Day 3 — Transfer to Lake Kivu
A private transfer of roughly two hours to a lakeside lodge selected for its privacy profile — freestanding villas or a genuinely secluded footprint rather than a larger hotel-style property.
Day 4 — Lake Kivu, unstructured
No planned activity beyond what you choose on the day. A private sunset boat excursion is a popular addition, but the day is intentionally left open.
Day 5 — Lake Kivu, unstructured
A second free day, reflecting our view that a honeymoon benefits from more unstructured time than a standard itinerary, not less.
Day 6 — Extend Kivu, or begin toward Nyungwe
Couples with seven days typically either extend the lake stay by a night or begin the transfer toward Nyungwe if adding the rainforest.
Day 7 — Transfer to Kigali, departure
Private transfer back to Kigali, timed around your departure flight.
Where privacy is genuinely built
The trek is capped at eight trekkers by park rule and cannot be made fully private, regardless of occasion. Privacy on this itinerary lives in the lodge stays and the evenings surrounding it — which is also, in our experience, where the moments couples actually remember happen.

Accommodation
Nights 1–2 near Volcanoes National Park, selected specifically for privacy — Bisate Lodge's six freestanding villas are frequently recommended here given their individually sited, secluded design. Nights 3–5 at a Lake Kivu lodge chosen on the same criteria.
Optional additions
- A proposal or vow renewal moment arranged with the lodge's guest experience team
- Couple's spa treatments where lodge facilities allow
- A private sundowner at a viewpoint over the Virungas or the lake
- Upgrade to Bisate Reserve — four villas, maximum eight guests, fully private guiding
What's included
Private airport and inter-destination transfers, luxury accommodation throughout in villa or suite category as available, full board, one gorilla permit each, at least one private dining experience, and a private guide throughout.
What's excluded
International flights, travel insurance, visas, gratuities, spa treatments beyond lodge package inclusions, and alcoholic beverages beyond lodge inclusions.
